Until the last few months, the arrival of Tesla in India was almost certain. A series of meetings, consultations and initiatives were taken from Tesla’s side to enter India. Finally, at the end of April, Elon Musk was said to be coming to India, but he did not come to India as promised.
It is said that his visit to India has been temporarily postponed. There were also reports that he was going to China instead of India due to some other reasons. Well now why all this information you ask?
It has been reported that Tesla will not launch in India for now. Yes, after the cancellation of Elon Musk’s India project, there was no communication between Indian government officials and Tesla. Communication is said to have been completely stopped, mainly from Tesla’s side.
Tesla’s more than a handful of problems globally have fueled doubts about the company’s entry into India. Tesla has failed to complete deliveries globally for the second straight quarter. Chinese companies are beginning to dominate the production and sales of electric vehicles. It has also become a major global competitor for Tesla.
In addition to Chinese companies venturing into other countries alone, some leading companies are forming alliances with other American and European companies to manufacture and sell electric vehicles. This is also expected to increase competition for Tesla.
Tesla, meanwhile, appears to be having investment problems. As a result, Tesla is sending thousands of workers home from their factories in the United States. Despite all this, India is still a growing and nascent market for electric vehicle sales.
Only 1.3% of the cars sold in India are battery electric cars. All others are petrol and hybrid cars. It seems that Tesla will not be able to make new investments in the uncertain Indian market. Therefore, it is said that Tesla may have stopped the visit to India and there may be no exchange of information with the Indian authorities.
However, it is noteworthy that no official information has been communicated or released from the side of Tesla or the Indian government.
