Several teams of paramilitary forces and Delhi Police have been deployed outside his house for security, a senior police official said.
Delhi Police has beefed up security at Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s residence following intelligence inputs about threats from right-wing groups, senior officials said on Wednesday.
The official said security has been beefed up following tip-off that there may be tension in the area in the afternoon.
The threat comes after Rahul Gandhi, in his first speech as Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, lashed out at the BJP, saying that those who call themselves Hindus are indulging in “violence and hatred”.
The party leaders strongly condemned this comment and accused Rahul Gandhi of insulting Hindus. Rahul Gandhi addressed the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha for about 100 minutes. However, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla ordered that many of Rahul’s comments be deleted from the parliamentary notes.
Comments on BJP, Hinduism, Narendra Modi Rahul’s comments about some of the key industrialists frequently mentioned by the Congress in the government, the Agnibad project, the NEET issue, Manipur and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been removed from the parliamentary memo.
