Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate last March for alleged corruption in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. Kejriwal’s side continued to plead in the Supreme Court that Kejriwal’s arrest was illegal.
Kejriwal’s side had requested that interim bail should be granted referring to the Lok Sabha elections while the hearing was going on before the bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dibangar Dutta. This request was strongly opposed by the enforcement department.
While it was said that the order will be issued today (May 10) after the investigation of this case, the Supreme Court has ordered to grant interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal till June 1. It is to be noted that the last phase of Lok Sabha election polling is on June 1.
