Chess Championship 2024 : Dev Patel has said that there is a possibility that the World Chess Championship will be held in India.

Gukesh, an Indian player and a young player from Tamil Nadu, won the title of champion in the Bidday Candidates Chess Tournament held in Toronto, Canada. 8 players participated and clashed in this PIDE Candidates series. Each player has to bump into them 2 times each.

At the end of this round, the winner i.e. the person in first place will play against the reigning world champion, China’s world famous Grandmaster Ding Lirin. At the end of the series, Gukesh topped the list with 9 points. Because of this, Gukesh is set to play the reigning World Chess Champion Ding Lirin later this year.

Dev Patel, the secretary of the Indian Chess Federation, said yesterday that efforts are being made to hold the World Chess Championship in India, which is to be held at the end of this year. Regarding this, he said, “We have spoken to the International Chess Federation about hosting the upcoming World Championship in India.

If this chess tournament takes place in India, it will surely be a very special thing. Also, there is a possibility that this final match will be held in any of the states like Gujarat, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh in India, said Dev Patel, the secretary of the Indian Chess Federation at a press conference yesterday.

It is noteworthy that the world championship was held in Chennai in 2013 between Vishwanath Anandam from Tamil Nadu and Magnus Carlsen from Norway. It is also noteworthy that Magnus Carlsen won the match by defeating Anand.
