Sri Karumparai Muttiah Sami Temple:
In the Perumalkovilpatti area of Sorikambatti village near Tirumangalam in Madurai district, there is an ancient temple of Sri Karumparai Muttiah Sami. There is no image of Swami in this temple, the rock there is worshiped as Swami.Curry Feast for Male Devotees:
The temple management committee delights in serving a curry feast to the more than 10,000 male devotees who gather there on the dirt floor in the void, after the black goats that are paid handsomely every year, are sacrificed in the middle of the night and cooked only by men.
Leaves that fade:
In this, without any discrimination of caste, religion, high and low, everyone sits on the earthen floor in balance and after enjoying the curry feast, they leave the leaves they have eaten in the same place. It is believed that eventually the leaves will disappear.
Women are not allowed:
Women are not allowed in this festival. No women visit the area for 3 days after the festival begins.
In this festival, more than 5000 people from surrounding areas including Thirumangalam, Usilambatti, Madurai will gather.
Earlier, they used to leave a black lamb in the temple to pray to the Sami for a wish (child boon, government job and promotion, health).
After those goats graze on the grass area in the area and transform into big goats, they are usually sacrificed to Swami. It is significant that it has been in practice till now.
