Participating in the discussion held in the Assembly yesterday, BAMGA Assembly Committee Chairman GK Mani demanded that the law to provide 10.50% reservation for Vanniyars should be passed and a caste-wise survey should be conducted.
Responding to that, Chief Minister M.K.M.K.Stalin and Law Minister Raghupathi said that only if a caste-wise survey is conducted at the national level, 10.5 percent reservation can be given to the Vanniyyas in Tamil Nadu.
Ramadoss, the founder of BAMA, who has made a statement mentioning this, said that this is a completely unacceptable argument and that it is not known where Chief Minister M.K.Stalin and Minister Raghupathi got this argument so that reservation should not be given to Vanniyars.
Pointing out that the Supreme Court has said that there is no bar to provide internal reservation in the case of reservation of seats for Vanniyars, for the present time, Ramdas said, “When the verdict is clear, the central government will conduct a caste-wise census and say that reservation can be given to Vanniyars only on that basis. Very surprising. Their understanding is also very wrong.”
Ramadas said that no reservation has been given in Tamil Nadu by caste-wise census, but because the DMK government has no intention of giving reservation to Vanni, it refuses to provide social justice to Vanni even though there are many data in favor of internal reservation. He said that the new reason found for that is the caste-wise census.
If the artist had been the Chief Minister now, he would have given internal reservation to Vanniyars, but Chief Minister M.K.Stalin did not have the social justice vision to give reservation to Vanniyars. By saying that only if a caste-wise census is conducted across the country, reservation will be given to Vanniyars, he criticized that it is certain that Vanniyars will not get reservation in the DMK regime and this is the face of DMK’s social injustice.
He further said, “It is certain that the people of the Vanniyar community will teach the DMK, which is doing social injustice, an unforgettable lesson. Tamil Nadu will not progress without the progress of Vanniyars. Realizing this, reservation should be given immediately to the people of Vannia. “If we refuse to do that, we will fight harder than we did in the past and win social justice,” Ramadoss said.
