Chennai : A cricket fan has lost up to Rs 67,000 while trying to get tickets for the upcoming Bengaluru-Chennai matches in the IPL.
The anticipation for the play-off round of IPL 2024 is increasing day by day, especially for the upcoming match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings. These two teams will play in the final match for one of the remaining 2 spots for a playoff spot.
To top it all off, an IPL fan is currently involved in a huge scam. The man, who lost money, searched the internet to get tickets for the RCB-CSK matches. Then he found the account ‘ipl_2024_tickets_24’ on Instagram.
The owner of the Instagram account, who identified herself as Padma Sinha Vijay Kumar, even gave her Aadhaar details and mobile number to gain trust, claiming to be an authorized IPL ticket seller.
Even those who have lost money trust him for a ticket of Rs. 2,300 and tried to get the tickets by sending him the amount of Rs.7,900 for 3 tickets. However, the person did not receive the e-ticket. However, he repeatedly made the person to pay due to various reasons like tickets not being opened due to digital glitch. He also relied on it and paid back.
When the person realized that he was close to Rs.67,000, he stopped sending the money and complained to the police department. The police have registered a case and are investigating. Police also urged cricket fans to buy tickets only on official websites to avoid losing money to such scams.
