Kawasaki launched its new 500cc bike, the Ninja 500, in India last February. But now the company has stopped the sale of Ninja 400 bike which was sold earlier in India.
Kawasaki has stopped selling the Ninja 400 before. The Ninja 400 was launched in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 4.69 lakh in 2018. Due to the implementation of BS6 norms in India in 2020, Kawasaki stopped selling it in India.
The Ninja 400 was relaunched again in 2022 with a BS6 compliant engine. Despite being a quality sports bike, it was priced very high. The reason is that Kawasaki used to import and sell it in India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit).
The Ninja 500 was launched in India a few months ago at an ex-showroom price of Rs 5.24 lakh. However, the Ninja 400 was priced almost the same at Rs 5.19 lakh ex-showroom. Due to this, the sales of Ninja 400 decreased drastically. Kawasaki has now completely stopped selling its bikes in India, selling only the imported bikes with some extras.
The Ninja 400 was revamped and re-launched in India as it was previously stopped due to the new regulations. But now we can’t expect the Ninja 400 to be sold in India anymore as they have planned to field another competitor.
The company is also going to sell the Ninja 500 model in India on CBU basis. It is noteworthy that the Ninja 500 model has been launched at a slightly higher price than its competitors including the Yamaha R3, Aprilia RS 457 and KTM RC 390. Anyway, it’s time to say goodbye to this Ninja 400 Super Sports bike.
