Chennai : The death toll in Kerala’s Wayanad landslides due to heavy rains has so far crossed 150. More than 1000 people have been rescued and accommodated in camps. The central and state rescue forces and the army are engaged in these rescue operations.
Earlier, a rescue team, fire brigade and medical team led by 2 IAS officers on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government reached Wayanad at 4 o’clock in the morning to rescue the people trapped in the landslide in Wayanad. Also, a relief amount of 5 crore rupees was given on behalf of Tamil Nadu government.
In this case, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, who met the media in Chennai today, mentioned about the disaster in Wayanad and the rescue operations undertaken by the Tamil Nadu government.
He said, I spoke to the Chief Minister of Kerala over the phone. He said that the landslide damage calculation is yet to be done. The Kerala Chief Minister also said that Wayanad has been affected the most. I told him that we will provide any help to Kerala on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government. We have sent a medical team and a rescue team headed by two IAS officers to Kerala. We have announced a relief of Rs 5 crore. Chief Minister M.K.Stalin today assured the media that we will provide assistance if needed.
