Today, the last day of this session, some important resolutions are passed. Most importantly, the Prohibition Amendment Act has been tabled in the Assembly today. This was tabled in the Legislative Assembly by Minister for Prohibition Muthusamy.
This amendment is intended to amend the Tamil Nadu Liquor Prohibition Amendment Act, 1937. In this, various amendments have been brought in in order to completely eliminate counterfeit liquor.
Accordingly, it has been mentioned that if the adulterated liquor is manufactured and sold, the offender will be sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10 lakhs. Further, the amendment has also been made to confiscate all movable property used in the manufacture of counterfeit liquor. Also, an amendment has been brought to empower the administrative arbitrator in bail breach cases.
