Animal Department is not doing any work in Villupuram district. Cattle farmers staged a road blockade on Nemur Road today, protesting that no action was taken despite several complaints.
Livestock farmers in Villupuram district today (July 1) protested against the lack of any work done by the livestock department and despite repeated complaints, no action was taken.
Villupuram District Animal Husbandry Department does not provide proper treatment to animals. The people of Nemur village protested today saying that despite complaining about this, no action has been taken till date. Villupuram District All Farmers Association President Kalivarathan led the cow breeders and farmers protest at 11.30 am.
Regarding the protest, the farmers said that Kumar’s cow was sick in Nemur village. We told the doctor about this and he did not provide any treatment so we complained to the District Assistant Director. He also did not take any action for a week. Now the cow is dying.
Therefore, they said that they have started a road blockade today in Nemur village of Vikravandi taluk so that this does not happen to others. Traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted due to the protest. Immediately the police came and said that they would solve it. After that the road was abandoned.
