Phase I Metro
In Chennai, the first phase of metro rail service is in operation on 2 lines covering a distance of 54 km. Now considering the increasing number of passengers, the second phase of the metro rail project is being implemented.
Phase 2 Metro
Metro trains will be operated on three routes namely Madhavaram Dairy – Sirucherry Chipgat, Lighthouse – Poontamalli Workhouse, Madhavaram Dairy – Choshinganallur. At a cost of Rs.63,246 crores, the 2nd phase of metro works for a distance of 116 kms is in full swing. It is planned to build 119 metro stations and the work is going on in full swing.

In this situation, the Chennai Metro Rail Corporation has decided to prepare a feasibility study report for the 16 km new route from Madhavaram-Ennur. The Metro Rail Authority will soon issue a formal tender for the preparation of a feasibility study report
