Rajesh Jijurikar, one of Mahindra’s chief executives, has said that electric variants of all their petrol car models currently on sale will be developed and launched in the future.

Mahindra is already selling the XUV400 electric car. Next, Mahindra is testing the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 electric variants of the XUV 700 SUV on Indian roads.

Now, following it, the electric models of Scorpio and Bolero are also going to be developed. Mahindra is adding the ‘.e’ code to the names of the models that will be converted from petrol to electric models.

In that sense, it is expected that the names of the new electric cars may be Scorpio.e and Bolero.e

The Scorpio and Bolero currently on sale are built on a Ladar frame chassis. But, it cannot be used for electric car models.

In August last year, Mahindra had showcased the electric variant of the Thar, the Thar.e concept model. In the concept car, Mahindra used a redesigned version of the INGLO skateboard platform.

The company also codenamed the redesigned platform P1. That platform has a wheelbase length between 2,775 mm and 2,975 mm.

Hence, it is expected that Mahindra will build electric models of the new Scorpio and Bolero on the same platform.

Scorpio.e and Bolero.e: Battery and Electric Motor:

The Thar.e concept model showcased last year featured a front electric motor capable of producing 109hp of power and 135Nm of torque, and a rear electric motor capable of producing 286hp of power and 535Nm of torque.

The company has not released any information about the battery. However, Mahindra has said that 60kWh and 80kWh batteries can be used on the P1 platform.

The 60kWh battery is said to have a range of 315 km, while the 80kWh battery is said to have a range of 435-450 km.

This electric motor and battery setup is also likely to be used in the new Scorpio.e and Bolero.e electric models.

Among these fuel car projects, Mahindra is going to completely overhaul the diesel variant of the Bolero.

Mahindra is developing an updated next generation radar frame architecture called U171.

The company plans to use this architecture in their various SUV and pickup models as well. It seems that Bolero will be the first model.

The next-generation Bolero model based on this new architecture is expected to be launched in 2026 or 2027.
