Maruti has recalled 2,500 Alto cars.. What is the problem?

Maruti has recalled 2,555 Alto K10 cars in India. Usually, when a car is found to have a defect during production that could potentially harm a customer, car manufacturers usually recall cars. Maruti has now recalled the Alto K10.

What problem:

Maruti has informed that there is a minor fault in the steering gearbox assembly, which is likely to affect the steering of the car. However, the company also said that it is very rare for customers to be affected by this issue.

Recalled Cars:

Maruti did not share information on when the issue was detected in the cars manufactured. However, the company has informed that it is contacting the customers who are likely to be affected by this issue through the dealer network.

Free Service:

Maruti has said that if a particular Alto K10 car is found to have the above issue, it will be fixed free of charge. So customers need not worry.

Customers owning the Alto K10 model have been asked to contact their nearest service center immediately if they suspect that their car may also be affected. Also, as a precautionary measure, customers who have found this problem in their cars are being asked not to use the car until the problem is fixed.

Alto K10 is the most affordable budget car sold in India. Starting at Rs 3.99 lakh, this car is powered by a 998cc petrol engine that churns out 49hp of power and 89Nm of torque. Along with this, the CNG variant of this car is also being sold.
