This consultation meeting was held with the shop owners and union executives under the chairmanship of District Collector Pradeep Kumar at the Trichy District Collector’s office.
Following this, in a press conference, the District Collector said: Actions will be taken after listening to the views of the traders. Traders have expressed their views.
New market
They have made several demands, including increasing the area in the newly constructed market, as the area in the existing shops is limited.
Gandhi Market
The new market will be set up with 860 shops at an estimated cost of Rs.256 crore. Gandhi Market, Potato and Onion Mandi has also been requested to operate in conjunction with the newly constructed Gandhi Market.
New Gandhi Market
Four routes will be established in the new market. No timeline has been set for the construction of the new Gandhi Market. He said that the next step will be taken after the opinions of the traders are consulted and the location inspected.
