Tata has announced new entry-level variants of the Nexon model being sold in India. In the compact SUV segment, Mahindra launched the updated XUV 3XO just a few weeks ago. Following the launch of the 3XO at a low starting price of Rs 7.49 lakh, Tata has now launched new entry-level variants.
Earlier the entry-level variant of the petrol-engined model was the ‘Smart’. The entry-level variant is priced at Rs 8.15 lakh ex-showroom. Currently, Tata has released the entry-level variant ‘Smart (O)’ at a price of Rs 7.99 lakh, which is Rs 15,000 less than this. The entry-level variant also gets a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Earlier, the diesel model of the Nexon compact SUV started at Rs 11.10 lakh ex-showroom. Tata has introduced two entry-level variants ‘Smart’ and ‘Smart+’ in the diesel engine variant line-up. The Smart variant is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh ex-showroom and the Smart+ variant is priced at Rs 10.59 lakh.
Currently, the Nexon’s diesel model starts at Rs 10 lakh ex-showroom, which is Rs 1.10 lakh less than before. These diesel variants are powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Apart from these three new variants, Tata has also reduced the prices of the petrol variants ‘Smart+’ and ‘Smart+S’ with manual gearbox. Earlier, the ‘Smart+’ variant was priced at Rs 9.2 lakh ex-showroom, but now it will be priced at Rs 8.89 lakh, a cut of Rs 31,000. Similarly, the ‘Smart+S’ variant, which was earlier priced at Rs 9.8 lakh, will now be priced at Rs 9.39 lakh ex-showroom, a cut of Rs 41,000.
