As a precautionary measure against landslides in the Nilgiris district, the district administration has requested the people living in Kokal and other areas to take advantage of temporary camps.
Gudalur in Nilgiris district and its surrounding areas experienced heavy rains during the last month due to the intensification of southwest monsoon. Due to this, a landslide occurred in Kokal village in Kudalur region and houses were damaged. In this situation, as the impact of rain may increase in the surrounding area of Kudalur, according to the instructions of the Nilgiri district administration and experts from the geography department, the people reading in Kokal village have been advised to stay in temporary camps.
If they do not wish to stay in the temporary camps, they have been asked to immediately inform the revenue department if any damage including landslides occurs.
