Honda beats Hero:
Last May too, Honda trailed Hero in sales. But, that’s only in overall sales. That means Honda sold more bikes than Hero when looking at both the Indian market and exports combined. But even then Honda was second in Indian sales.
First time at number one:
Currently, Honda has overtaken Hero to become the number one in Indian sales, not only in terms of domestic sales and overseas exports.
Honda Bike Sales Status:
Last July, Honda sold 4.39 lakh two-wheelers in India and exported 43,982 two-wheelers abroad. Overall, Honda sold 4.83 lakh two-wheelers last month alone.
Domestic sales have increased by 41.26 percent and foreign exports by 60.27 percent compared to July last year.
Last year in July, Honda sold 3.10 lakh two-wheelers and exported 27,443 two-wheelers.
Hero Bike Sales Status:
Hero, on the other hand, has seen a decline in domestic sales compared to last year.
Last July, Hero sold only 3.47 lakh two-wheelers in India and exported 22,739 two-wheelers abroad.
Domestic sales in July last year were 6.43% higher than this year at 3.71 lakh. Foreign exports alone have increased by 13.10% compared to July last year.
India’s Leading Bike Dealer:
After the spin-off from Hero, there was a huge difference in sales volumes between the two companies. Over the past 13 years, it has come down little by little and Honda is now officially sitting on the throne as India’s leading bike company.
