21The Department of Meteorology has predicted that occasional rain is expected in Upper, Sabaragamuwa and North-West provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (05).

There is a possibility of raining several times in the northern and north-central provinces.

There is a chance of rain or thundershowers at some places in Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the evening or at night.

There is a possibility of strong wind blowing at a speed of 40-50 km per hour from time to time in the western slopes of the central highlands and in the northern, north-central and north-western provinces and in Trincomalee, Ambandottai and Monarakala districts.

Temporarily gusty winds may also occur in those areas during thunderstorms.

The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the damage caused by lightning strikes.
