Evening rain in Uva, Amparai, Batticaloa
The Department of Meteorology has predicted that it will rain several times in the Upper, Sabaragamuwa, North-West and Southern provinces and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts today (09).
50 mm in some places in Sabaragamuwa Province and Nuwara Eliya District. More moderately heavy rainfall is expected today.
There is a possibility of light rain in some places of North and North Central Provinces.
Uva province and Amparai and Batticaloa districts may experience rain or thundershowers at some places during the evening or night.
There is a possibility of strong wind blowing at a speed of 40-50 km per hour from time to time in the western slopes of Central Highlands, North, North-Central, North-West Provinces, Trincomalee, Ambandottai and Monarakala districts.
Temporarily gusty winds may also occur in those areas during thunderstorms.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the damage caused by lightning strikes.
