56For the first time in Sri Lanka, Slic Lanka Fisheries Pvt. Ltd. The company has launched its latest product in the market, a 1 Kg Mackerel Seaman Bag with a long shelf life. The event to introduce this new product to the market was held yesterday (21) at the Ministry of Fisheries. The Seaman Bag was formally handed over to the Minister of Fisheries, Douglas Wonanda, by the Managing Director of SLIC, Kalanithi Kapila Balasuriya. Balasuriya informed the minister that it has been prepared in an optimal manner for bakery manufacturers.
During this, the minister commented that the aim of the government led by President Ranil Wickremesinghe is to promote local production and for this the government is ready to provide all the assistance to the national manufacturers and for this he advised to get the quality certificate from SLS (Sri Lanka Quality Control Institute) as soon as possible.
Officials including Nishantha Wickramasinghe, Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries participated in the event.
