In the first phase of this program, it has been decided to give allowances of Rs.5000 to those selected under the affected category from July 2023 to 31.03.2024 and to those selected under the intermediate affected group to be paid Rs.2500 from July 2023 to 31.12.2023.
In view of the current economic crisis, President Ranil Wickramasinghe has instructed to extend the period for providing special allowances to the affected and selected beneficiaries under the Aswesuma welfare allowance scheme till December this year.
It has also been decided to provide a special allowance of Rs 5000 from July 2024 to December 2024 for the affected and intermediate affected persons under it.
Jayantha Wijeratna, Chairman and Commissioner of Welfare Benefits Board, said that the allowance given to the extreme poverty and below poverty line will also be given continuously.
