The Indian Ocean Information Center said that due to the wind direction, the sea will be rough and the waves will be rough in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. Due to this, a red alert warning has been issued in Kanyakumari, Nellai, Ramanathapuram and Tuticorin districts that the sea storm will be very intense and the sea waves will rise several feet high.
Also, orange warning has been issued in the coastal areas of Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu districts. Similarly, a yellow warning has been issued in Villupuram, Cuddalore and Nagai districts that the sea will be rough and the sea will rise violently.
It is referred to as the black sea event in the local language because the sea wave suddenly rises and threatens like a thief. People in coastal areas are advised to stay safe and fishermen to anchor their boats safely as the sea wave will suddenly rise several feet high.
The Indian Ocean Information Center has also said that the sea level will rise up to 1.8 meters. Due to this, people living in coastal areas have been advised to move to safer places. Also, people have been warned not to venture into the sea and stay away from the beach as the waves are likely to appear frequently and occur at intervals of 16 to 23 seconds.
Yesterday fishermen were warned not to go to sea to catch fish. The Coast Guard is engaged in intensive surveillance in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and the coastal areas where there is a large concentration of people. Devotees have gathered in Tiruchendur sea area. Devotees are advised not to bathe in the sea as the sea waves are very rough.
Prema Das and his 7-year-old daughter were playing with their feet wet at Tengapatnam beach in Kanyakumari district when a giant wave swept them away. While Prema Das was safely rescued by the bystanders, his 7-year-old daughter got caught in the waves and went missing. The incident of father and daughter who disobeyed the warning and got caught in the sea waves has caused a great shock.
