Pooja Kethkar’s IAS pass cancelled; Debarment from participating in future examinations

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Wednesday canceled the candidature of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) trainee Pooja Manorama Dilip Kethkar in the 2022 Civil Services Examination (CSE).

Also, he was barred from appearing in future examinations of the commission. The order has been issued in connection with violation of the rules by writing the examination more times than allowed.

A notice was issued to him earlier on July 18. It said, “Forgery has been committed by using fake identity beyond the permissible limits provided in the examination rules. The reply should be submitted by July 25.

But, he asked for more time till August 4. UPSC has allowed them to make their submissions till 3.30 pm on July 30.

In this case, “despite the extension of time granted to him, he failed to submit his explanation within the prescribed time. Hence this order has been issued,” said UPSC.

In the wake of Kethkar’s case, the UPSC analyzed the data of more than 15,000 candidates nominated from 2009 to 2023.
And found that no other candidate except him had obtained more attempts than allowed under CSE rules.

It is to be noted that Kethkar, who joined the Pune Collectorate for training in June, was accused of misusing the OPC and Benchmark quota for persons with disabilities in the CSE examination.
