He said this while addressing the official opening of the reconstructed road in Thalanguda, Batticaloa’s Mandunapatu yesterday. With the financial assistance of the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs, Thalanguda beach road was reconstructed and opened at a cost of about 92 lakh rupees.
Eastern Province Governor Senthil Thondaman was the chief guest and addressed the event held under the chairmanship of Kalanithi M. Gopalaratnam, Secretary of Road Development Ministry of Eastern Province.
“Today, no party is in a strong position due to the economic downturn in the country. A strong leader can be elected when a common candidate is chosen and supported by all parties.
51 percent votes are required in the elections to become the President. No party has the status of getting such votes at present.
