Department of Railways yesterday said that all users of lands or buildings belonging to the department and those who intend to occupy in a railway land or building should register with the Department before July 15 this year.
The General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways said that occupying lands or buildings owned by the Department without formal lease agreement is a punishable offence under the State Land Ordinance.
As the regularization of lands owned by the Department has commenced, they are requested to register online viat before the deadline.
“Individuals who fail to register before the specified date will be subject to legal action under the State Lands (Recovery of Possession) Act No 07 of 1979.
