Restructuring of SriLankan Airlines; 3 Companies Call for Quotations

Ports, Docks and Aviation Services Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has said that 3 companies have come forward to reorganize SriLankan Airlines.

The minister mentioned that 2 of them are foreign companies.

The minister said that one company would be selected and steps would be taken to reorganize SriLankan Airlines.

For this purpose, he said that the process of selecting a suitable company has been carried out by examining the conditions of the companies that have submitted bids.

Meanwhile, the period given to submit bids for investment in SriLankan Airlines ended on March 5.

However, Ports, Docks and Aviation Services Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva had taken steps to extend the said period by 45 days.

Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has said that the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank’s investment advisory agency, has advised the World Bank’s investment advisory agency to reduce the debt value of $1.2 billion to find an investor for SriLankan Airlines.
