Royal Enfield has been rumored for some time to be working on a new electric bike. Now the design patent of the electric bike has been leaked on the internet.
Similar to the design of the fuel bikes sold by Royal Enfield but slightly different is the design of the Royal Enfield electric bike. Also, a few years ago the design of an electric concept bike called ‘Electrik 01’ was released.
We can see the design elements of that concept bike in the design patent of the new electric bike. When it comes to fuel bikes, the frame is designed to be invisible. Mainly in the engine and petrol tank areas. But the electric Royal Enfield bike has also used the frame as a design element.
In the new Royal Enfield electric bike, the electric motor and battery are combined in an integrated setup where the engine is located. The frame of the bike is designed to be visible outside of the setup and above the part designed to look like a petrol tank.
It also looked good on a concept bike released a few years ago. Another similar feature on the concept bike and this design patent is the girder fork suspension. Usually all the bikes we see come with telescopic fork or USD suspension setup.
However, both the patent and the concept model of the electric Royal Enfield bike have used a girder fork setup. This type of setup was used by Royal Enfield on their bikes over 100 years ago, in the 1920s. At that time the company was British. It remains to be seen whether the product will offer this girder fork setup or a conventional telescopic fork setup.
Apart from this, we can see circular headlamps, thinner tires than usual and a single seat setup in the design patent. We can also see the sari card for the rear tire. So there is definitely a billion seat. The question is whether it is given in perpetuity or in such a way as to be stuck if need be.
Although Royal Enfield will launch a new electric bike, its performance is expected to be similar to that of the 350cc bikes. We can definitely expect the launch of this bike in 2025. However, information on whether it is coming in product form or concept form has not been shared.
This patented design is not officially shared by Royal Enfield. Therefore, information about it is also unknown. Royal Enfield may even have patented the design to showcase it as a concept model at the 2025 Auto Expo. Let’s wait and see what happens.
