Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has announced that the family of a fisherman from Ramanathapuram who drowned in the sea after being hit by a Sri Lanka Navy patrol boat will be given 10 lakh rupees.
In a statement issued by Chief Minister M.K.Stalin in this regard, 4 persons namely Mookhaiyya, Muniandi, Malaichami and Ramachandran had gone by boat from Rameswaram fishing harbor in Ramanathapuram district and were fishing near Nedundivu in the early morning of last 1st. As he drowned in the sea, his body and that of Mookaia and Muniandi were handed over by the Sri Lankan Navy on the 3rd of November.
Also, Indian Coast Guard ships have been searching for Ramachandran, who went missing in the sinking of a fishing barge for the last 5 days, but his body has not been found.
Considering the plight of Ramachandran’s family, who drowned in the sea in this incident, I have expressed my condolences to his family and ordered to provide 10 lakh rupees from the Chief Minister’s general relief fund, he said.
