26The leader who dedicated his life to find solutions to the problems of the Tamil speaking people of the minority community, R. Member of Parliament Faisal Qasim said in his obituary message, “Sambandan Iya”.
In his obituary, he further said,
The loss of a senior leader who contributed his entire life to find solutions to the deep-rooted ethnic problem in Sri Lanka has caused great grief internationally.
Amidst the various challenges facing the country, the loss of someone who was determined to find permanent solutions to racial issues is likely to become a major turning point in the future.
I express my deepest sympathies to the family and people of Trincomalee who are grieving the loss of Sampanthan Aiya, the senior political personality, former leader of the opposition and the president of the Tamil National Federation, who has left various historical lessons among us at the age of 91.
