Anna University has announced that the semester examination will be postponed due to the installation of voting machines in the colleges.
The Lok Sabha elections are being conducted in seven phases. Elections were held in Tamil Nadu on April 19. The final phase of the election will be held on June 1. Counting of votes will be held on June 4.
After the election on the 19th, the electronic voting machines were sent to the counting centers. Accordingly, electronic voting machines have been placed in a few colleges across Tamil Nadu.
Electronic voting machines will remain in those colleges till June 4, when the counting of votes will take place. Due to this, strict restrictions have been imposed on the students coming and going for the examination in the concerned colleges. 24-hour security arrangements have been beefed up.
Considering this, Anna University has announced to postpone the semester examination.
In this regard, Anna University Exam Control Officer Sakthivel has issued some orders to the principals of autonomous colleges affiliated to Anna University.
It said, “Voting machines have been placed in some colleges and they are functioning as vote counting centres. For security reasons, the movement of students, teachers and staff inside these colleges is very restricted and in some places it is prohibited.
Conducting the final semester examination in this situation would not be right for the students. Therefore, the final semester examinations of non-autonomous engineering colleges affiliated to Anna University, which were to start from the 15th, have been postponed.
The exam is scheduled to start from June 6 next month. This should be communicated to the students immediately,” he said.
