Senthil Balaji: The Enforcement Directorate has filed a reply in the Supreme Court against Senthil Balaji’s bail plea.
On June 14 last year, the enforcement department arrested former minister Senthil Balaji in the case of the Prohibition of Illegal Money Transfer Act. After this, after various stages of investigation, a charge sheet was also filed in this case.
Former minister Senthil Balaji has been in judicial custody since last year. Meanwhile, the Madras court rejected the petitions filed seeking bail in the Enforcement Department case, and he appealed to the Supreme Court.
Accordingly, Senthil Balaji’s bail appeal is pending in the Supreme Court. In this situation, the Enforcement Directorate has filed a reply petition in the Supreme Court against Senthil Balaji’s bail plea.
As the evidence against former minister Senthil Balaji is strong, his bail plea should be dismissed. The Enforcement Directorate has said that since Senthil Balaji is a powerful person, there is a possibility of destroying the evidence, he should not be granted any relief including bail and apologizes for the late filing of the reply.
After this, Senthil Balaji’s side said that he has been in jail for a long time and they have made allegations that the Enforcement Department has filed the reply at the last minute to delay the case deliberately. Following this, the hearing on Senthil Balaji’s appeal was adjourned to May 6.
