Remel storm: The India Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of heavy rain in 5 states on May 26-27.
As the low pressure area over the Midwest and adjoining South Bay of Bengal has strengthened into a depression, this depression will move northwards and intensify into a severe storm by tomorrow (May 24) evening. Also, this storm has been named REMAL.
Later, it is predicted to cross the coast of Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal between Sagar Island and Kebupara at midnight on 26th. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that the wind speed of 102 kilometers per hour is likely to hit the coast when the storm crosses the coast and there is a possibility of heavy rain in the states due to this storm.
Accordingly, the Meteorological Department has warned that coastal districts of West Bengal, North Odisha, Mizoram, Tripura and South Manipur will experience very heavy rains on May 26-27. Also, the fishermen who go to the sea for fishing have been advised not to go to the Bay of Bengal till May 27 and the fishermen who have gone to the sea so far have been advised to return to the shore.
