Murugaraj (41) hails from VK Putur area of Tenkasi district. Nellie works as Head Constable (Eight) in the control room of the Municipal Police. A few years ago, Murugaraj had an extramarital affair with a woman named Varamati (40) from Hosur, Krishnagiri district. So he has rented a house in Nella to Varamathi.
Extramarital affair:
In this case, Murugaraj has been using Varamati to earn money in a roundabout way. Accordingly, he is planning to engage in fraud by pretending to be a government official. According to Murugaraj’s plan, Varamati has cheated many people by claiming that he is the district revenue officer and that he will complete the government affairs easily.
Crores defrauded by police:
In particular, the 2 people have swindled crores of money from many people by claiming that they will get a lease for the outlying land and that they will get government jobs. Since Murugaraj is in the police force, he has come into contact with various people.
Through this, he has told his acquaintances to approach Varakmati if they need any government assistance. Then both have cheated them together.
In this case, Varamathi and Murugaraj have said that they are going to buy a land transfer to a real estate businessman Sasikumar (40) from Othakadai area of Madurai.
Because of this, Sasikumar trusted him and gave him Rs.10 lakh. But even after many months, the belt was not changed. He informed Murugaraj about this as he did not pay the money despite asking him several times.
After that Murugaraj gave a check of Rs.10 lakh to Sasikumar. When Sasikumar bought it and deposited it in his bank account, it returned empty.
After this, he got suspicious and when he inquired, Varamathi fake TRO. He came to know that he along with head constable Murugaraj had defrauded Rs.10 lakhs. At that time Murugaraj was working at Nellie Junction Police Station.
So, based on the complaint filed by Sasikumar at Nellai Junction Police Station, the police registered a case and Inspector Ponraj conducted an investigation. Following the complaint, Murugaraj was transferred to the control room, and now Murugaraj and Varamathy have been arrested by Nellie Junction police. In the investigation, it was revealed that the duo had cheated many people to the tune of crores of rupees.
