Modified Superb Product:
Earlier, Skoda manufactured the super sedan model at their factory in Vasini, Czech Republic. However, the Superb Sedan model will now be manufactured at the Volkswagen plant in Bratislava, Slovakia.
This factory has no design to manufacture cars in CKD mode. Cars can be completely manufactured for both domestic sales and overseas exports. Therefore, Skoda is planning to export the Superb model to India with a complete CBU system.
Rising Price:
Currently, Skoda is planning to launch the fourth generation Superb model in India. All three generation models sold earlier were assembled and sold in India using the CKD method. Hence, we were able to sell those models in India at a slightly lower price.
But it seems that if it is fully imported now, its price will be much higher than before.
Relaunched Third Generation Skoda Superb:
Skoda has re-imported the discontinued third generation Skoda Superb in CBU mode and launched it in India. This time the company had imported only 100 units. But the price was too high at Rs.54 lakhs.
Yes, the third generation Skoda Superb, which was earlier priced at Rs 38 lakh ex-showroom, has been re-launched in CBU mode at Rs 54 lakh. However, Skoda has struggled to sell those 100 units without getting the expected customer response.
Fourth Generation Skoda Superb:
The fourth generation Skoda Superb is already expected to be priced slightly higher than the third generation. In this case, if it is imported and sold in CBU mode, it will have to be sold at a much higher price than the third generation Superb model.
Also, it will have to be homologated if it sells more than 2,500 units. That will further increase the price of the new model. Premium cars with diesel engines are in demand in India at present. Keeping that in mind, Skoda is going to bring a superb model with a diesel engine to India.
Also, this superb model is being marketed towards specific customers who prefer Skoda and Ford’s TDI engine. However, no one can deny that the price is very high.
