The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) inaugurated its National Election Operations Office under the patronage of the party’s founder and former Minister, Basil Rajapaksa. This new office, established adjacent to the party headquarters on Nelum Mawatha, Battaramulla, aims to secure victory in future elections. The timing of the office opening is notable, occurring just one day after the Election Commission announced the date for the upcoming Presidential election.
The operations at this office involve coordination with 14,000 village party officials across Sri Lanka, facilitated by a data system supported by 160 computers. A specially created task force oversees these efforts, with former Southern Province Governor Willie Gamage serving as the head of the election operations office.
