Sri Lankan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia makes first official visit to Medina

Amir Ajwat made his first official visit to the holy city of Madina Munawwara during the period 17th to 18th July after Omar Leppy Amir Ajwat was sworn in as the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

During the visit, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad had a friendly conversation with Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Madinah Region. While conveying his best wishes to the new ambassador, the Prince assured that he is ready to provide all kinds of cooperation to strengthen the relations between the two countries. Responding to this, the Ambassador outlined that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He mentioned the historical relations between Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka. To mark this momentous occasion, Ambassador Ameer Ajwat gifted Sri Lankan ‘Boganvila’ plants to the Governor for planting in Madina city. During his visit, Ambassador Amir Ajwad also met the Chancellor of Madinah Islamic University, Khalanidi Salih Bin Ali Al Akhla. During the meeting, the Ambassador also discussed the exchange of academic cooperation between Saudi Arabian and Sri Lankan universities in various fields.

Also during this visit Ambassador Amir Ajwat also visited Madina Chamber of Commerce. There Naib Al Zaidi, First Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federation, along with the Secretary General and members of the Federation welcomed the Ambassador. During this visit, the ambassador also visited the cultural and historical museum in Madinah, the Holy Masjid Nabawi and the King Bahd printing press of the Holy Quran.
