Within three days of the start of online registration for engineering admissions in Tamil Nadu, the number of admissions crossed 55,000. As of yesterday (Wednesday), more than 55,000 students have registered.
While Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA-2024) started on May 6, a total of 20,097 students registered the next day. A senior official of the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE) said that 56,515 students had registered for engineering admission till 6.30 pm on Wednesday.
Out of the total students registered so far, 24,258 have paid the application fee. Of the fee-paying students, 8,809 have also uploaded their certificates online, which is the last step in the application process.
Last year it took 6 days to register 50,000 admissions. This time more than 50,000 applications have been registered in 3 days. The application registration is expected to increase further in the coming days, he said, expecting it to reach one lakh in the next week.
He went on to say that all engineering admissions will be done online. He said everything like application registration, fee payment, choice filling, allotment and confirmation will be done online. He also said that the last date of application registration for engineering students may be June 6.
