EOS – 08 satellite successfully deployed.
EOS-08 This state-of-the-art satellite EOS-08 has been designed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for Earth observation operations. The EOS-08 satellite has a total mass of 176 kg. Its lifespan is one year. It will be placed in a geostationary orbit at a distance of 475 km from the earth. It is equipped with 3 instruments namely Electro Optical Infrared Payload (EOIR), Global Navigation Satellite System-Reflectometry Payload (GNSS-R) and SiC UV Dosimeter. The eIR tool helps in disaster management, environmental monitoring, accurate night imaging.
Somnath, who met the media after the launch of the rocket, said that the state-of-the-art satellite EOS-08 designed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for Earth observation operations was successfully launched today by the SSLV T-3 rocket. Now the satellite is properly positioned in its orbit.
So far everything has gone according to plan. The operation of the satellite is continuously monitored. EOS-08 satellite will perform well. I would like to express my appreciation to the SSLV D-3 team for their hard work. It is the third propulsion vehicle in the SSLV family of rockets and today’s success marks the completion of SSLV development.” He said.
