Southern Railway has informed that 164 summer special trains have been run to northern states in the last 3 months.
During festive seasons, public holidays and summer vacations, the number of passengers is high. Due to this, additional coaches will be added to the trains so that there is no harm to the passengers. Special trains will also be run.
In this way, special trains were run on the Southern Railway for the last 3 months in view of the summer vacation.
164 special trains including 16 unreserved trains have been operated from Southern Railway to Northern states in last three months alone.
46 trains were run to West Bengal, 38 to Bihar, 31 to Odisha, 16 to Assam, 18 to Andhra Pradesh, 13 to Jharkhand and 2 to Uttar Pradesh.
83 special trains were run in May alone. Southern Railway has informed that 21 trains have been operated in March and 35 trains in April.
Apart from this, from time to time due to railway maintenance works there are complete or partial cancellations on certain routes.
Accordingly, 28 special trains running through Tamil Nadu to other states have been cancelled. The Chennai Egmore-Visakhapatnam summer special train will be canceled from June 15 and the Chandrakasi weekly special train will be canceled from June 18.
Tambaram to Dhanbad weekly special will be canceled from June 16, Barelani weekly special from June 20 and Chandrakachi weekly special from June 19.
Similarly, the weekly express train from Coimbatore to Parelani will be canceled from June 18.
Also, special trains from Bengaluru to Jolarpet via Gadpadi to Visakhapatnam, Kharagpur, Malta, Guwahati etc. will be canceled from June 16. It has been informed that these trains will be completely canceled until further notice.
