In the interest of teachers in Tamil Nadu, the School Education Department has decided to provide tablets to teachers and implement a full body check-up program in the current academic year.
To keep government school teachers abreast of technology, Chief Minister Stalin has announced that secondary teachers and graduate teachers will be given tablets as part of the teacher welfare programme.
The aim of this initiative is also to honor the teaching community to further develop the skills of teachers in line with the emerging technological developments in teaching and learning methods.
In the first phase, 79,723 tablets were distributed to teachers by the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Education Services Corporation. In the second phase, 55,478 tablets will be procured and given to the teachers, the education department said.
Likewise, another welfare program for teachers is the full body check-up program. As per the notification, the teachers will undergo a full medical examination once in 3 years. In the first phase, 35,600 teachers above 50 years of age will be benefited under this scheme during the current academic year. It is important to note that both the schemes are applicable only to teachers in government schools and not to government aided schools.
