Tata has used an improved ‘Hyperion’ engine in the new Curve model.. Performance is going to be on a different level!

Tata Curve Engine Options:

The Tata Nexon compact SUV currently on sale is offered with 1.5-litre diesel and 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine options.

In this, the 1.5 liter diesel engine is going to be used as is in the Curve model. As an alternative to the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, Tata will use a newly upgraded 1.2-litre turbocharged direct injection petrol engine in the Curve model.

The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine offered in the Nexon is capable of producing 120hp of power and 170Nm of torque.

Tata has revealed that the new 1.2-litre engine that will be used in the Curve is capable of producing 125hp of power and 225Nm of torque.

Upgraded New Engine:

If the same engine used in the Nexon is used in Karvu, it will be a bit difficult to get the performance that customers expect.

Because the Tata Curve is built with a slightly longer wheelbase and a bit more weight than the Nexon. So, it is welcome to have a slightly more powerful engine to match.

The new engine is made entirely of aluminum. Also, it features Variable Valve Timing technology, Variable Oil Pump and Integrated Exhaust Manifold in the cylinder head. Also, Tata has informed that this engine has a water-cooled variable geometry turbocharger (water-cooled variable geometry turbocharger).

The engine currently used in the Nexon cannot be said to be a well-refined engine and the performance is not up to expectations. But, the new engine is well-refined and will do well in terms of performance and mileage.

How it works in practice should be tested only after the release of the curve. After its debut in the Curve model, Tata is likely to use this new engine in their other compact SUV models as well.

Tata Curve Diesel – DCT Automatic Combination:

So far no mass market car launched in India has offered a DCT automatic combination with a diesel engine. The Curve will compete in the mid-size SUV segment with the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta also offering diesel engines with a torque converter automatic gearbox option.

Tata Motors will also offer a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox option on the Curve diesel engine variant along with a manual gearbox as standard.

At what price will the Tata Curve be launched:

The fuel variants of the Tata Curve with petrol and diesel engines are expected to be launched at a starting price between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 12 lakh.

The new Tata Curve SUV coupe model will compete with the likes of the Citroen Basalt, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta in India.
