DMK General Secretary DTV Dhinakaran said that the DMK government’s hostility towards the demands of the electricity board employees is highly condemnable.
In this regard, in a social media post published by him, the employees of the Tamil Nadu Power Board are engaged in a sit-in protest all over Tamil Nadu, insisting on various demands such as filling the vacancies in the Tamil Nadu Power Board, making the contract workers permanent, and giving the benefits to the retiring employees in due time. The employees of the power board are complaining that due to the fact that more than 30 thousand vacancies in the power board are not filled, the workers working there are facing additional workload and there are also casualties due to frequent accidents.
The DMK government’s anti-labour attitude, which refuses to listen to the demands of the electricity workers who work day and night for the electricity needs of the public, regardless of their lives during natural calamities like rains and floods, is highly condemnable.
After the DMK took charge of the government, while unannounced power cuts continue in most parts of Tamil Nadu, due to the state-wide protest of the power board employees, the electricity service needed by the public will be affected and there is a risk of complete shutdown of the work in the power board offices.
Therefore, he urged the Tamil Nadu government to immediately call the representatives of the power board employees who are protesting across the state and negotiate and find a smooth solution to their reasonable demands.
