Rafa: The UN International Court of Justice has ordered Israel to immediately stop its ongoing offensive in Gaza’s Rafah.
Backing South Africa’s request, the court ordered Israel to halt its offensive in Rafah. While Hamas has welcomed the order, Israel has expressed its displeasure.
Israel launched its offensive on the southern city of Rafah earlier this month. A South African court has welcomed a request to order an end to Israel’s offensive in Rafah, a week after Pretoria called for action in a case accusing Israel of genocide.
But Israel has repeatedly rejected the case’s allegations of genocide as baseless. Presently, the court expressed deep concern over the condition of the hostages and urged them to be released immediately and unconditionally.
Furthermore, the judges urged Israel to immediately stop any actions and military attacks that could destroy the lives of the Palestinian people in whole or in part.
Israeli warplanes have continued to carry out airstrikes on Rafah even after the ruling by Anal, the International Court of Justice. It is important to note that although the orders of the International Court of Justice are legal, in practice the orders cannot be enforced by the court.
