The new Mercedes Benz E 450 sedan is more digital and ready for any road

Who doesn’t love driving a Mercedes Benz sedan packed with technology and classic elegance inside and out.

The moment I start testing the E-Class, I am excited to discover all the new technology and driving precision.

The E-450 is fun to drive and seems to enhance your social status from the moment you enter the cabin.

The elegant and luxurious mid-range Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan has been one of Germany’s favorite stylish sedans for over seventy-five years.

For several generations, the E-Class has been a nice upgrade over the base C-Class luxury sedan, while also being priced below the top-line luxury S-Class.

The new 2024 E 450 sedan model is now more powerful with an upgraded engine designed for off-roading. Inside, the E-Class maintains the classic elegance we know from Mercedes Benz, but has been redesigned with the latest technology and digital tools.

The new generation of the E 450 fuses tradition, all-terrain power and modern technology, with luxurious details everywhere.

The E-Class is more digital than ever

One of my favorite features of the new Mercedes-Benz E 450 is the new Superscreen option that adds a third screen for the front passenger. This screen is large and looks fantastic. The front passenger can enjoy their own private screen without distracting the driver.

The new E-Class sedan E 450 includes the new third-generation MBUX, the Mercedes-Benz User Experience infotainment system that provides an immersive entertainment experience, including the optional MBUX Super Screen.

Mercedes Benz calls its new E-Class a bridge between tradition and digitalization, as this sleek sedan is one of the few cars from the famous German automaker that maintains its classic look but is fully loaded with new technology.

The technological tools included with the E 450 make it intelligent, immersive and interactive, fully integrated with smartphones.

New entertainment integration experience with music, games and streaming, a new dimension of personalization and interaction.

The new electronic architecture includes fast data transfer speeds with 5G technology and several new smart features.

This new technology is more software-based and less hardware-based, allowing for easy upgrades and improvements in the future.

Phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are all wireless, so you can connect your devices to your Mercedes Benz without using a cable.

New computing functions are carried out on a single processor, rather than in previously separate domains. The new advanced MBUX infotainment system shares a powerful new on-board central computer that improves performance with faster data streams.

Ambient lighting

When driving the new 2024 E-Class you can experience music with three senses.

With the new active ambient lighting including sound visualization, music and sound can be heard with Dolby Atmos technology if desired and felt with sound resonance transducers in the standard Burmester 4D surround sound system, but can also be seen through this ambient lighting.

The visualisation is via the light strip of the optional active ambient lighting. This is applied for the first time throughout the E-Class. For example, rapid rhythm sequences can trigger rapid light changes, while flowing rhythms can create lighting atmospheres that merge smoothly.

The front passenger gets a better visual experience, thanks to the optional display, the front passenger can watch dynamic content such as streaming video on the optional right screen in front of the front passenger.

While driving with my teenage daughter, she enjoyed the colorful graphics on the right front display that moved to the beat of the music.

The advanced camera-based visual protection function reduces glare and therefore reduces the risk of driver distraction.

The E-Class entertainment programme is more interactive than ever.

Software experts at Mercedes Benz They developed a new compatibility layer that allows the installation of third-party applications.

The following apps are available on the central display at launch in the E-Class: TikTok, the Angry Birds game, the Webex collaboration app, the Zoom video conferencing app and the Vivaldi web browser.

Another new digital feature is a video and selfie camera, part of the optional MBUX Superscreen on the top of the dashboard. When the vehicle is not in motion, the driver can participate in online video conferences via Webex or Zoom, and take pictures and videos with the sedan’s camera.

The MBUX “Just Talk” function can now activate intelligent voice control without the keyword “Hey Mercedes”. When the function is activated, a red microphone symbol appears on the display to indicate that the vehicle is ready to receive commands.

Equipment and prices

Buying an E-450 is easy But there are only two versions to choose from, the basic E-450 version Premium or the more premium version E-450 Pinnacle and some optional packages.

The current base starting price of $68,000 for the 2024 model year might be high compared to other luxury sedans, but Mercedes-Benz remains at the top of the line among European automakers.

Modernized exterior design

The new E 450 sedan is ready for all roads and the exterior reflects its power. To enhance the exterior appearance, there are a few wheel style options with sizes from 18″ to 21″ and a variety of exterior color options.

The new exterior features classic sedan proportions with a short front overhang and long bonnet, embellished with modern styling details such as a striking black panel connecting the radiator grille to the headlights.

Exterior lighting includes high-performance LED headlights as standard, and you can add optional DIGITAL LIGHT intelligent headlights that constantly adapt the road illumination to the weather, lighting conditions, road and traffic.

The rear of the new E 450 features two-section LED taillights with a new contour and a unique star design.

The optional illuminated grille looks great, everything around the radiator grille lights up like a perimeter light around the front radiator.

On board this new sedan you can enjoy the outside environment through the large standard panoramic electric roof.

Mercedes-Benz digital vehicle key

The new Mercedes-Benz Digital Vehicle Key is standard on the new E 450 and allows drivers to unlock, lock and start the vehicle using a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch.

The Smart Key Sharing function is very convenient, as the main user of the Mercedes me Connect account can assign different access levels to each device for different users.

The interior of the new E-Class features elegant, hand-crafted upholstery on the sumptuous seats. Along with a colour palette and two stitching patterns, trim options include natural grain woods, deep piano black or a modern woven metallic fabric that looks fantastic and very stylish.

High-performance all-terrain sedan

The E 450’s performance is enhanced by the standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive and the AGILITY CONTROL suspension with selective damping. This combination offers excellent ride comfort and agile handling.

This new sedan has a powerful inline six-cylinder turbo engine that produces 375 horsepower.

The turbocharged engine and high-tech system provide a smooth and torque-rich response that can drive on different types of roads.

The E-450 is not a hybrid, but it does include a 48-volt mild hybrid system that can add power and torque electrically for smoother starting and stopping and to save gas when accelerating.

The 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission in the new 2024 E-450 is very smooth and fast, with nine speeds, an electronic column selector and shift paddles for manual gear changing.

Optional AIRMATIC package

The package AIRMATIC optional includes 4.5 degree rear axle steering, which helps produce better stability and maneuverability.

This powerful package also includes AIRMATIC suspension with air springs and ADS+ adaptive dampers controlled automatically for each wheel and separately during rebound and compression.

The 2024 E 450 is more modern with more digital features, more powerful but still elegant like the classic Mercedes Benz E-Class.
