Surya, who is one of the leading actors in Tamil cinema, has acted in the movie Ganguwa after films such as Ethirim Vathindavan and Vikram. 
Following this, Suriya is acting in his 44th film directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film has been tentatively titled as Surya 44. It stars Pooja Hegde opposite Suriya. Also along with them are celebrities like Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran. The film is jointly produced by Suriya’s 2D and Karthik Subbaraj’s Stone Bench. Santhosh Narayanan will compose the music for this film with Shreyas Krishna as the cinematographer. While the shooting of this film has already started in the Andaman region, there were reports that the first phase of the shooting has been completed. Following that, the next phase of the shooting has started in Ooty and is going on briskly.
