The ‘Tamil Putulavan’ scheme will come into force from the coming academic year

Chief Secretary Sivdas Meena has said that the ‘Tamil Butulavan Scheme’, which will provide Rs 1,000 to government school students studying higher education, will be operational from the next academic year.

‘Naan Muthuvan Project’ works to guide students who have completed twelfth standard for higher education. Under this programme, the Tamil Nadu Government organized the educational mentoring program ‘College Dream – 2024’. The function was inaugurated by Chief Secretary Sivdas Meena at Anna Centenary Library, Kotturpuram, Chennai. Also, high officials including Secretary of School Education Department and students of Chennai District Government School participated.

The students said that the Naan Muthuvan project is a new guide for achieving the dream of higher education even if they study in government schools.

Sivdas Meena, speaking to the media, said that the average of college students in Tamil Nadu is higher compared to the national average. However, he said that we are working towards fixing the target that all students who pass 12th standard in Tamilnadu should go to college of higher education.

He said that our plan is that the students who have completed class 12 should study together in any course including medicine, engineering, law, science.

Sivdas Meena said that we have formed a committee to identify those who have not joined the college after completing the twelfth standard this year and through this we have a plan to find them and enroll those students in some college for higher education.

He mentioned that just as students who have studied in government schools are given one thousand rupees through the scheme for traveling to colleges, students studying in government schools from this academic year will also be given one thousand rupees every month under the Tamil Butlavan scheme.

He said that the aim of the Tamil Nadu government is that 100 percent of all those who have passed class 12 should join some college for higher education and there should be no dropouts.
