The England team advanced to the semi-finals after defeating the USA team in the “Super 8” round match of the 20-over World Cup cricket series.
In T20 World Cup series, the ‘Super 8’ round was held yesterday between England and USA teams. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to bowl first in the match at Kenningston Oval. Following this, the American team played the first batting. Nitish Kumar was dismissed for 30 runs and Corey Anderson for 29 runs.
The rest of the players were dismissed by a meager run. USA eventually lost all wickets and were bowled out for 115 runs in 18.5 overs. On the bowling side, Chris Jordan took 4 wickets and was amazing.
After this, the England team played the second batting with an easy target of winning by scoring 116 runs. Openers Jos Buttler scored 83 runs and Phil Salt scored 25 runs to win easily. In the end the team scored 117 runs in 9.4 overs.
With this victory, England became the first team to advance to the semi-finals. Team USA went out with a loss. Adil Rashid was selected as the player of England team.
