Buffalo mauled woman in Tiruvottiyur:
The CCTV footage of the incident in which a woman was dragged by a buffalo while walking in Tiruvottiyur, Chennai, was released and caused a stir.
Vinod’s wife Madhumati (33) of Tiruvottiyur Amsa Garden, Second Street, is married and has a 7-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter.
He sent the children to play at a relative’s house in Somasundaram Nagar area on Sunday.
After this, when she went to give food to the children in the afternoon, Madhumati saw a buffalo coming fast through the village street. When she looked back, the buffalo knocked Madhumati and dragged her down the street with three hammers.
On seeing this, Chandrasekhar, who owns a clothes ironing shop in the area, ran away from the shop and went to save Madhumati when he too was knocked over by the cow.
Treatment in hospital:
After this, Chandra Shekhar met Madhumati. The bystanders immediately rescued the injured Madhumati and took her to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
When the doctors examined him, he suffered a serious injury on his leg and underwent surgery and was treated with more than 50 stitches.
The CCTV footage of the cow being dragged away has created fear and excitement among the public.
Husband complains at police station:
Subsequently, Madhumati’s husband filed a complaint at Tiruvottiyur police station. On the basis of the complaint, while searching for the identity of the owner of the cow, the police found that four cows were brought in a truck from Andhra for sale, 3 cows were unloaded from the truck and only one cow ran away uncontrollably.
Case registered against the owner in 2 categories:
It seems that all the vehicles on the road were hit by the frightened cow while chasing it. Following this, the police have registered a case under two categories of 289 recklessly letting cattle graze on the roads and 338 of causing cruelty and threat to public by cattle.
It is noteworthy that the owner of the cow escaped to Andhra Pradesh when he came to know that the police were looking for him.
