Russia: A train carrying passengers has derailed and overturned in a river in northern Russia’s Republic of Komi region. About 70 passengers were injured in the incident.
The train was on its way from the city of Vorkuta across the Arctic Circle to the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk in the south of the country when it derailed near the small town of Inda in Komi Republic.
In this accident, 9 coaches of the train overturned in the nearby Gomi River. There were about 215 passengers inside those 9 coaches that overturned in the river.
Also, according to reports, 2 people have died and 70 people have been injured in this accident. Moreover, 7 of the injured are said to be seriously injured.
Fortunately, there was little water in the nearby Gomi River at the time of the accident, so a major accident was avoided. After that, the rescue team rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and sent them to the nearest hospital.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the train tracks were damaged due to the recent heavy rains in Gomi area and the accident is said to have occurred. According to some local media there, the news has been revealed.
